De Paula Jewelers is a family run business, formed in 1991 by Philip De Paula and located in the heart of historic downtown Essex, along Connecticut’s southern coast. Over the past 50 years,  DePaula family jewelry stores have grown and flourished; with stores in Connecticut and across the state of Florida.

Phil De Paula comes from humble beginnings, born in Havana, Cuba and coming to America at a young age with a vision of a better future. Phil learned the jewelry trade inside and out during his time working under some of the top jewelers in New York City. After years of studying the industry inside and out, Phil opened De Paula Jewelers first store nearly 40 years ago.

In 1999, with over 25 years experience, the vision for De Paula Jewelers Essex location was realized. Phil took his years of expertise in the fine art of jewelry design and creation and opened this new location. Phil’s focus is one creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces that you will not find anywhere else.
